Information for participants arriving to Prague
ATTENTION! Due to the building of the Prague orbital the tram routes around Metro station Hradčanská have been changed, thus official maps in this area may not be valid. Metro and pedestrian connections are unchanged.
CONFERENCE VENUE
The 2nd Prague Protein Spring Conference will take place in Vila Lanna, located in a quiet residential area close to several embassies, 10 minutes distance by walk from the subway station Hradčanská; very close to the Stromovka park; 15 minutes distance by walk from the Prague Castle.

Description of the building and accommodation:
A neo-renaissance building from 1913, protected by the Government Heritage Fund, located in a private garden. Since 1957, it belongs to the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic. It was reconstructed to serve as a unique accommodation facility for guests of the Academy and to host small-size meetings.

All additional payments of Conference fees should be paid only in the Conference Office.
Currency: The currency in the Czech Republic is the Czech Crown (Kč = CZK). Exchange rate depends on exchange office and current exchange rate. Contemporary exchange rates are: 1 EUR = 24.5 CZK, 1 USD = 19 CZK. In shops, foreign currency is not generally accepted however there are numerous exchange offices all over town.
ARRIVAL
Transport from airport:
Please note that at the airport there are 2 arrival halls (for Non-Schengen countries - Terminal 1; for Schengen countries - Terminal 2).
Public bus No. 119 to the Metro station Dejvická (22 min, 12 km, operates from 5 - 24 h. daily). Time interval is 10 min. Go to the bus station close to terminal exits. Price for bus ticket is 32 CZK in ticket machines. Bus tickets can be bought also in newspaper stand at Airport Arrival Hall.
The cheapest way to Vila Lanna is to go to Dejvická by bus No. 119. The bus terminates directly at the Metro station Dejvická, Line A. Afterwards you may take the underground to the next Metro station Hradčanská and then walk to Vila Lanna (see the map), cca 10 min. There is no public transport directly to Vila Lanna.
Airport taxi service: AAA yellow taxis, English speaking operators (http://www.aaaradiotaxi.cz/).
The cars run from 14.90 to 26.90 CZK per km. Not all cars AAA radiotaxi Co. offer the cheapest rate. Therefore, when ordering a car ask for the car CZK 14.90 per km or discount 47%. AAA taxis can be ordered at tel. nos.: (00420)14014 or (00420) 222333222 or mobile no.: (00420) 729331133.
When in town we also recommend using AAA which provides a reliable service. They will usually arrive in 10 min at no extra charge. Service at hotel/hostel reception can order taxi.
To Vila Lanna from railway stations:
Main Railway Station (Praha Hlavní nádraží) and Railway station Praha Holešovice: Both railway stations are on Metro line C. Take train in direction Háje, change at station Muzeum to line A and go to station Hradčanská and then walk to Vila Lanna (see the map), cca 10 min. There is no public transport directly to Vila Lanna.
PUBLIC TRANSPORT SYSTEM IN PRAGUE
3 Underground - Metro lines A, B and C, trams and busses.
The journey to the city centre from Metro station Dejvická to Metro station Můstek (Václavské náměstí) takes about 6 min.
Tickets can be purchased at the airport or at all Metro stations at ticket vendors. The prices of tickets are:
30 min - 24 CZK,
90 min - 32 CZK,
One day (24h) - 110 CZK, 3 days (72 h) - 310 CZK.

CAR PARKING
Recommended guarded car parking in Technická street 6, Prague 6, in the building of the National Technical Library (NTK) or on the Vítězné náměstí (see the map).
As Vila Lanna is situated in a residential quarter the parking facilities there are strongly limited.
INSURANCE
Participants are advised to arrange health and travel insurance and whatever insurance they consider necessary prior to departure. The Conference registration fees do not include provision of insurance. The Organisers do not assume responsibility or liability for personal accidents and loss or damage to belongings caused.
Beware of thieves and pickpockets! When travelling in Prague just as in other big capitals, take great care of your belongings. Don't leave baggage unattended, in crowded transport systems beware of pickpockets.
WEATHER
At the beginning of May mild spring temperatures can be expected (round 20 degrees C), however, occasional rainy showers and cooler weather, as well as warm summer weather, are possible.
